Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière,
102nd Birthday Celebration (18th January 1916-2018).

Short Biography

Dr. de la Ferriѐre was born in Paris (City of Light), France, on the 18th of January 1916 at 3:00am, during the 1st World War. His parents were George Constantine Louis Raynaud (Architect) and Mrs. Virginie Marie Bille. They were Belgians.

In November 1919 the family moved back to Brussels, Belgium, because of the war situation, where his mother died when he was 4 years old. Due to his father’s frequent travels, he was cared for by his aunties.

Since early age he was interested in art/painting and at 13 years old he was awarded the 1st art prize from a prestigious European exhibition in Brussels. He attended Catholic schools from a very young age and graduated as Mining Engineer in the Catholic University of Lovaina.

Also, as a very young man he was inclined towards Yoga, reading Aurobindo Gosh and Ramakrishna, besides the study of classical esotericism: astrology, oriental philosophy, arqueometry, Kabbalah, hermeticism, masonry, druid culture, etc. and at the same time deepening his understanding of the various sciences: biology, medicine, mathematics, physics, bio-magnetism, naturism, etc. always searching for a synthesis of knowledge, a union of East and West for an ontological self-realization. He was a correspondent member of the French Free University in the capacity of Biological Sciences Professor, honored with the title of ‘Official Health Merit of France’ as endocrinologist.

At the beginning of the 2nd World War he was registered in the French Army, where he had an administrative role, not involved in direct combat. Due to the circumstances he became involved in the business and industry of perfumes, where he met his future wife Mrs. Louise Baudin, who he lived with in France and later travelled to Venezuela.

Back in Paris he quickly became involved in the French intellectual milieu, fully committed to the study of astrology, working as a psychologist. He was recognized as an excellent astrologer by the precision of his radio and press predictions; reaching the point of founding his 1st International Institution, the “International Cosmobiology Aggrupation (A.M.C.)”, on the 18 of February 1947 aiming to gather investigators and specialists from the areas of medicine, biology, astrobiology, biogeography, ontology, geogeny, cosmogony, cosmography, biochemistry, meta-astronomy, cosmic anthropology and phylotechnics. His mission was ‘to establish a relationship between the different sciences to elaborate experimental investigations aiming to elucidate the cosmobiological laws’. The participants were numerous.
As president of the group he asked support from the French government for a cultural expedition to America with the objective to study the astronomical and cosmobiological knowledge and the self- realization of the pre-Hispanic cultures: Mexico, Central America and the Inca’s area in South America.

It was in a typical Parisian coffee place, called Le Falstaff (45 Rue Montparnasse), where during one of their meetings that he got to know his spiritual predecessor, the Most Dignified Master Sun Wu Kung of Turkistan origin, who later declared himself disciple of Master de la Ferriѐre. Master Sun Wu Kung was the person who has chosen Master de la Ferriѐre to fulfill a mission in South America. During this time he met several spiritual head of movements in Europe. In 1946, in Brussels, he attended several spiritual congresses. In 1947, in Paris, he attended the International Peace Congress. This Congress used to be organized by Maha Cohan.

At the Paris Congress were 153 representatives from diverse spiritual traditions, Buddhists, Masons, Martinists, White Brotherhood, Liberal Catholic Church, etc.… with them the idea of a world organization was formalized and called the Universal Great Brotherhood, i.e., a World Federation of Associations characterizing spiritual, initiatic, religious, artistic, scientific, etc. traditions. It was a generic term which concretizes an ancestral ideal of Fraternity, Tolerance and Peace between humans of any race, religion, gender, social or intellectual level.\

In 1949, he also attended the same Congress in New York, then as representative of the Agharta or Spiritual Direction of the World.
On the 17th of January, a day before his 32nd birthday, he flew to Caracas, Venezuela. At his arrival he was interviewed by several journalists and numerous publications of this event were published in the main journals of Venezuela. It was in Venezuela that he established the Universal Great Brotherhood, Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferriѐre Foundation, where the headquarters remain until today.

In the town called El Limon, Maracay, Venezuela he founded the first Ashram, Spiritual-Ecological Community where a Guru lives with his/her disciples. He stayed at this Ashram for 17 months teaching the practice of synthesis yoghistic …… and imparting knowledge of self-realization. During this time, he also wrote three of his books from The Great Messages series.

In June 1949 he traveled to New York in the company of his disciple Juan Victor Mejias, who accompanied him around the world (Europe, Asia, Australia, India, Burma, etc.). In New York he presided over the ‘Strength of the Spirit Congress’ and revised the work done by other organizations belonging to the Universal Great Brotherhood.

In January 1950, he traveled east via Europe. When he reached Sri Lanka he made contact with Master Yogaswami and Swami Navaratman who initiated him into the old Swamis Order according to Shankaracharya. Afterwards, he participated in the Khumba Mela pilgrimage in the Ganges together with thousands of yoghis, rishis and sannyasins. He was accompanied by the German Guru, Gauri Bala, who was also Yogaswami’s disciple.

He continued his pilgrimage heading towards the sacred Mount Kailas on the Tibetan frontier where he intended to completely retire and just meditate for the world peace and to attain the ultimately yoghi experience, Samadhi, or final liberation. Due to a sense of responsibility for the lack of understanding by human beings, he decided to renounce his final Samadhi and returned first to Australia, where he lived for 22 months. He then returned to Nice, France. From Nice, he started to get in touch again with his disciples in America, and with the Universal Great Brotherhood organization. He defined his humanitarian mission in his two first articles of the Statutes.
